“Lorem Ipsum” draws its title from the meaningless Latin placeholder used in graphic design — and this is no accident. Konstrakta uses the phrase as a metaphor for the growing detachment between the image we project and the essence we truly are. The speaker constructs an avatar, a copy of herself, refined and smooth. It appears to live and breathe, but it is ultimately vacant: a simulacrum made to serve social expectations.
What makes the song especially striking is its self-awareness. The avatar is not merely a symbol of curated online identity — it is an existential question. Is this avatar me? Who am I when I am reduced to data, to a pattern, to a presentation without presence? As the speaker offers the avatar to the world, there’s no celebration in it. Only emptiness. A shell built to function, not to feel.
